The Nature of Plants

Change the Way Your Look and Things, and the Things You Look At, Change. Wayne Dyer.

Consider a fresh perspective on plants with a unique opportunity. Some time ago, I mentioned Bioneers’ interview with anthropologist Jeremy Norby, titled “Natures intelligence: Coming Down from the Pedestal.” In keeping with the concept of nature’s intelligence, I recently became aware of The Plant Initiative, an organization dedicated to “creating a movement to increase respect for plants.” The organization has arranged a virtual event on Wednesday April 19th from 12:00-1:00 PM CDT, featuring authors Paco Calvo and Natalie Lawrence discussing their newly published book, “Planta Sapiens: The New Science of Plant intelligence.” They assert that, “Although plants lack brains and mobility like ours, cutting edge science is uncovering their astonishing inner worlds that differ from ours. They can anticipate, learn, recognize kin, assess hazards, and make decisions. They can even be put to sleep. Innovative techniques including electrophysiological recordings, MRI and PET scans may allow us to witness them perform these activities. A world full of drama unfolds if we can observe them in the right way.”
