There continues to be a debate about the delisting of the gray wolf. The Trump administration delisted the wolf after 45 years of protection under the Endangered Species Act. A decision by a California federal district court in February of this year struck down the 2020 action of the US Fish and Wildlife Service that removed federal protections of the gray wolf through out #much of the U.S. In his book, Dennis Olson states that the wolf is an important teacher--wolves taught Native Americans about cooperation and the value of extended families. "They showed us how to move through the world carefully and quietly." In this delisting debate, like Olson says in his book, some people ask "what good are they?" Isn't it time we ask another question? Olson thinks we should. That question is, "by comparison, what good are we?"
