Some scientists believe we only have ten years to dramatically shift how we live on our planet. As Einstein said, “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” How are we going to shift in order to save ourselves by protecting the planet? One way is by integrating spirituality with science. Science provides us with tools and technologies. Spirituality gives us vision and values. Suzanne Simard, an ecologist with more than 30 years of research experience in Canadian forests, discovered that trees talk to each other and often over long distances. In her book, Finding the Mother Tree, she stated, “I discovered that they are in a web of interdependence, linked by a system of underground channels, where they perceive and connect and relate with an ancient intricacy and wisdom that can no longer be denied.”
To do her work, Simard had to merge science and spirituality and came up with some amazing revelations that can shed deeper light on the interconnectedness of the ecosystems of the Earth. Pam Montgomery, author of Plant Spiritual Healing, stated “There’s a vibratory resonance that plants have that we can tap into. Plants can help us mend our relationship with all of Nature, to come back into the fold and help us be all we can possibly be.” If we can research using our hearts as well as our minds, we just may be able to make that shift.
