How to Cope with Climate Anxiety

#Do you remember when you first heard the term, “climate anxiety?” I do—it was about six months ago, and it seems that after that, I heard it a lot. In a world grappling with unprecedented environmental changes, climate anxiety has emerged as a significant psychological phenomenon. It reflects a growing concern over the future of our planet, manifesting in feelings of fear, despair, and helplessness as we stand at the crossroads of ecological crisis and hope.

As I’ve stated in these vlogs over the past few years, anxiety is an emotional response to perceived threats to something that is happening externally to us. Climate anxiety shares many of the same characteristics of other forms of anxiety that humans have confronted and overcome throughout time. Responding to climate anxiety, like responding to other types of anxiety, is an inside job.

Over the next week or so, I will delve deeper into understanding the psychological effects of climate change, strategies for managing climate anxiety and ways to transform it into action. By educating ourselves and taking proactive steps, we can reduce its impact on our lives and contribute to a more sustainable and hopeful future for our planet. I will highlight the wisdom and actions of the most influential transformational leaders of our time, as well.
